Justine and AJ

How We Met

AJ and I met when we were in high school. We were acquaintances with only a few classes together. AJ went off to school at UCLA and I went to school at the University of Hawaii for four years. When we graduated, we both moved back home to Murrieta. I saw him at my doctor’s office, but I hid rapidly and called my best friend and told her how attractive I thought AJ was. I told myself that if it was meant to be, God would let us meet again. A couple weeks later, we ran into each other at this Irish Festival in Murrieta. We talked for a bit, but the real game changer was a few weeks later. AJ messaged me on Facebook and asked if I liked “country music, Vegas, and impromptu adventures.” Of course, I said yes! He invited me to drive to Las Vegas that day with a few of his friends for a country music festival. I spent the best spontaneous weekend of my life with a guy I hardly knew and it was the best decision I’ve ever made! From there, its history!

How He Asked

AJ had a whole day planned for us! My birthday was the day after so he said he wanted to take me out for my birthday. He picked me up in the early afternoon and he took me to where we had our “first official date.” We ate and then he asked me if I wanted to go ring shopping. We had talked about getting engaged, so I said yes. He then took me on a walk around a lake that is near our house until my nail appointment that he made for my birthday. After, he asked if we could make one more stop. He took me to where we first reconnected-the Irish festival. There were a bunch of candles, pictures, and rose pedal decorations leading up to the spot where he proposed. He got down on one knee and asked, and my first response was “I hate you!” But eventually, I caved and said yes ;) I never would have thought that the man I marry was sitting in my 9th grade class!
