Juliana and Brian

How We Met

Brian and I met in high school but were in different friend groups until my senior year when I began considering a career in engineering. This led me to join a local robotic club where Brian was serving as a mentor. It was there that we first got to know each other. It wasn’t until the following Christmas that he asked me out on a date. For two weeks after that he told all his friends that I was his girlfriend! Thankfully, he eventually let me in on the secret and we have been together ever since. My mom always told me if I didn’t become an engineer, that I should marry one. I guess I got the best of both worlds!

How He Asked

Brian proposed on a Sunday afternoon at Whitehall Mansion. He had asked me that afternoon if I wanted to go for a drive and explore a new park he had found. I was a little confused when he pulled into Whitehall, but he told me there were really pretty gardens in the back. My first thought when we got out was that this would be the perfect place to propose! It was just the two of us, exploring the gardens and trying to pet the cats that were hiding in the flower bushes. We walked and talked for almost an hour before finally sitting down in a shaded spot. It wasn’t until we got up to leave that he popped the question. Neither of us remember much of what was said since we were both so excited. He almost forgot to put the ring on me!
