How We Met

Joe and I first met through mutual friends at the end of high school. We became good friends, texting each other daily and occasionally hanging out.  After a year and half of friendship, Joe asked me to be his Valentine. Without a doubt, I said yes! On February 27, 2011, Joe and I officially started dating. Even though we went to different colleges and had very busy schedules, we always made sure to find time for each other.  Over the past five and half years we have accomplished a lot– as a couple and as individuals. After everything we have been through together, I am excited to see what our future has in store for us!

How He Asked

On July 15, 2016- in the most perfect way possible- Joe asked me to marry him. He planned a weekend getaway to Boston, where he thought of just about everything. He booked us a hotel room in the Sheraton with a beautiful view of the entire city. On our first full day, we went to the Boston Public Garden. He prepared a romantic picnic with all of my favorite foods- chicken cobb salad and homemade sangria, followed by fruit with whip cream. After our picnic, we walked around admiring the beautiful scenery. Then, we took a swan boat ride around the park.  I was confused as to why we were spending all day in the park when there was so much more of the city we hadn’t seen yet.

But at 5:30 pm, I found out why. Joe asked me to turn around to take just one more picture by the lake. When I turned back around he was on one knee with the most breathtaking ring I had ever seen.  He asked me to marry him and of course, I said yes! After saying yes, a man with a camera approached me and congratulated me. It was then that I found out Joe hired a professional photographer to capture the moment and to take all the pictures we wanted for the next hour.

The magic didn’t stop there. We went for dinner at an Italian restaurant where the wait staff already knew about our engagement. When our dessert came out, my plate said, “She Said Yes” and his said, “Congratulations.”

On our drive home, Joe had even more surprises in store. When we first started dating, Joe had given me a Pandora bracelet and he adds a charm for each special event in our relationship. To commemorate our engagement, he hid a charm in his glove compartment. I opened the Pandora box to see a beautiful swan charm.

When we arrived home, one last surprise was waiting for me. All of our close family and friends were waiting for us with champagne to celebrate this special moment in our lives.
