Jordan and William

How We Met

Will and I met the summer of 2013, right before I started my freshman year at Georgia Southern University. I was working as a waitress at a restaurant in my home town, Newnan, Georgia, which is where Will is also from. It was a slow evening at work, and Will joined two of his friends at one of my tables. We began chatting when somehow Georgia Southern came up in the conversation. He let me know that he also attended GSU and was only visiting home for the summer.

We continued to chat and flirt a bit, and right before leaving, he invited to me to a party he and his roommates were having a few weeks later. Of course I went, and the rest is history. We’ve been together ever since! Ironically, we did not know each other at all beforehand, even though we grew up in the same town. He is four years older than me, but we did attend the same elementary school and high school too.

How He Asked

In April 2017, a friend of mine referred me and Will to Kayla Duffey, a photographer located in the Newnan area, who was at the time searching for a couple to model for her. Kayla contacted me and I immediately agreed to work with her. I loved all of her ideas for the shoot, so I was super excited about the opportunity. We scheduled the photo shoot for May 14th. Little did I know, Will had been designing a ring for me since December. Once I gave him all of the details about our upcoming shoot with Kayla, he seized the opportunity and asked her if she would mind him proposing during our session.

Together, they scouted out locations in Historic Downtown Senoia and planned the proposal. The day of our photo shoot, we met Kayla at a coffee shop. Will even introduced himself and pretended to meet her for the very first time in front of me. I was completely oblivious! We took photos for about an hour before Kayla led us to a romantic little alley in between two brick buildings, with overgrown ivy everywhere and sweet little twinkle lights strung above. Kayla posed us for several shots, and then asked us to stand back to back. Moments later, I turn around to see Will on one knee.

He pulled out the most gorgeous engagement ring I’ve ever seen and asked me to marry him. Completely shocked and overwhelmed, I somehow said “yes” in between sobs.

It was truly the biggest and happiest surprise of my lifetime. I’m so thankful for Kayla helping plan and capture that special moment, and I absolutely cannot wait to marry my soulmate!

Special Thanks
