Jordan and Josiah
How We Met
We met during high school and became best friends during our freshman year of college. We were both hired to work with the youth at our church and spent a lot of time together. Our friendship was instant and we knew from the start that we were meant to adventure through life together.
How He Asked
So basically we met, fell in love, and the rest is history and that’s all you NEED to know. However, we know ya’ll are dying to know how Josiah popped the question! It was the BEST day and Josiah outdid himself. He can be super romantic and I love him for it. Anyway, Josiah and I were planning on going to a friend’s wedding and were getting ready to drive the two hours in full out wedding attire. I, being the grandmother that I am, packed snacks for the drive and everything. We love road trips and so I was excited to get two hours with the love of my life, holding hands and road-tripping to our friend’s best day. We were headed towards the highway when Josiah got a “text” from our worship pastor saying that he had to pick up some gear to lead worship the next day. I’m sure many of you don’t know I have a sassy side (sarcasm) but it was made very evident in this moment as I commented, “why don’t you just tell him we’re on our way to a wedding?!” Little did I know, I was soon going to be starting the adventure towards mine. We pulled into the church and around back when I noticed that there weren’t any cars. We parked and sat a second. Josiah turned to me and pulled off his purity ring to reveal two thin lines tattooed around his ring finger. My heart started beating wildly because he had mentioned wanting to get a tattoo on his finger right before he proposed for as long as I had known him.We got out of the car and walked to the small, tree-lined fire pit that Josiah and I had spent many nights under the stars worshiping, talking and crying (mostly me) during the course of our relationship. Josiah sat me down and started playing the first song I had ever heard him sing when all he was to me was “the super cute worship leader” We sat, Josiah sang Fall Afresh by Jeremy Riddle, and we worshiped. When Josiah finished playing, he stood me up and held my hands and then HE TOLD ME HE LOVED ME FOR THE FIRST TIME! I honestly don’t really remember what else he said except that he wanted me to be his wife because I was FREAKING out that he said “I love you.” He got down on one knee, gave me the MOST beautiful ring I have EVER seen, and I cried (shocker) and said yes!
Shortly after, my sweet sisters came out from the treeline and hugged me and cried. They had been filming and taking pictures the whole time. Ya’ll, I’m not even done. We walked back towards the church and both of our families came out! We went inside and talked and made toasts. At this point, I’m barely holding it together, but then Josiah turns to me and tells me that he had MORE. He opens his computer and starts to play a video of SO MANY of my favorite people congratulating us and telling us they love us. I. Lost. It. It was such a sweet moment as I watched familiar faces and heard familiar voices encourage us on our day. We left the church and went back to my house where lots of friends were waiting to celebrate at an engagement party. It seriously was so amazing and I’m so thankful for a guy who orchestrated everything so that I would feel loved.
