Jordan and Brandon
How We Met
Brandon and I first met when we were in high school. It was my sophomore year and his senior year. We went to different schools but had mutual friends. I remember the first time I met him I was so shy and nervous. Why? I thought he was the most beautiful person I had ever seen, but we both were dating someone else. At the time he was just someone I loved to stare at. It was one of those situations where you can look, but you can’t touch.
So fast forward four years later, I find myself on Tinder. And yes, I did say Tinder. This was all due to the dirty work of a girlfriend of mine. She told me this would help me get over the breakup with my ex and it would just be a laugh. Well I gave the Tinder account about 24 hours. I thought it was so lame that I was endlessly swiping through pictures to only hold introductory conversations. “Hey you’re beautiful.” “Oh thank you!” End conversation. So I deleted the app. And then one night I find myself really bored. So, you guessed it, I downloaded the app again.
As I’m swiping through the pictures, low and behold the crush of my high school career pops up. Do I swipe right?? Will it even tell me we matched? Does he even know who I am?! All of these questions I ask myself, but I follow through and swipe right. “It’s a Match!” You could say I had a little freak out moment knowing he swiped right on my picture. So to end my Tinder love story, Brandon ended up messaging me and we met at Chipotle a few days later. That day I knew I would be with him forever.
How He Asked
It was a couple of weeks before Christmas and Brandon told me he wanted to go out of town. He was going back to work soon and I would be going into my next semester of college. We always go to Morro Bay so that is where we decided to go. Brandon picked me up from my house Monday morning and we were headed to the beach! When he was getting onto the freeway he got on the North exit instead of South. I start freaking out and telling him “You got on the wrong freeway! Where are you going?” He told me he couldn’t keep the secret any longer and that he was taking me to Big Sur. We had never gone together and since the day we started dating I told him we should go. I was thrilled! I texted all of my girlfriends to tell them where we were going. They all replied with the same message, “HE”S GOING TO PROPOSE!”
Of course on the way there Brandon reassured me that he couldn’t afford to buy a ring and that it would be a while until we got engaged. I told him as long as we were together that didn’t matter. So we checked into the hotel and went to dinner. The whole time he kept talking about how he felt bad and didn’t want to disappoint me. It was so cute but I kept telling him when the time is right it will happen.
Look at that sweet face. The whole time he was being so sneaky. We went back to our hotel room after dinner to watch a movie. Once we got inside our room he kept repeating how he hated that he told me it would happen by the end of the year and it wasn’t. I don’t know how many times I told him it was okay and I didn’t mind waiting. Until he said “Or I guess I could do it now…” He got down on one knee and I freaked out! I hugged him before he could even ask me to marry him.
