John and Lindsay's NYC Proposal

By Laura Pennace - http://www.facebook.com/pennacephotographyHow we met: John and I met on a hot summer Tuesday in August of 2011. At the time, I was working at a Dermatologist office. John had come in for an emergency visit for an untreatable lesion that landed himself in the emergency room, they then suggested he see a Dermatologist. The second John stepped foot through the door of my office, is the moment I knew my life was going to change forever. My best friend Kasey that also worked there kept telling me I have to do something about this feeling that had come over me, it was like a breath of fresh air. Talk to him, get his number she wanted me to do something, anything but letting him leave. I just knew that I could not let him get out of there without him knowing the way I felt, not even knowing anything about this guy or who he even was. I ended up taking him back in the room with the doctor. Everything about him made me happy, his voice, his eyes, his smile I could go on forever. When he walked out of that door, I kept thinking how am I going to find him, what can I do. I ended up sending him a text message that read “Hi”. He then proceeded to ask who I was, I said its your secret Admirer and well enough, I was. We talked for a little while that led into about a month or two of just hanging out. I then separated myself from him due to being so scared that I knew this was something that was going to change my life forever and I was not ready for it. But then it crossed my mind, this is what I need, this is what my son needs, and this is what I want. Now almost four years later, were still going strong and I couldn’t ask for anything better in my life.

How he asked: It was a very cold day in New York City January 17, 2015. John and I had plans to go to dinner in Manhattan later that night. He told me that he wanted to take a cab to Gantry State Plaza park and walk around while wasting time before our dinner. Being that it was so cold out, its not something that I would have chose but I did anyway, because I love making John happy. As we were walking around we were taking amazing photos of New York city and its perfect skyline. We then walked down a path, where I saw a random duck by itself just sitting on the rocks in the perfect sunlight glancing on the flowing water behind him. Then it got completely silent. Neither John nor I were saying a word to each other.

I turn around to look at him and right away John then told me he had brought me there for a reason. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him telling me how much he loved me and wants to spend his life with me. Meanwhile, there had been a photographer there capturing the entire thing. It will be a day I will never ever forget and a memory that will last a lifetime.
