Emily and John
How We Met
We fell in love while dancing at Stadium Stairs. The first time I saw her, we were sitting in opposite cities, somewhere on our phones, on twitter (we come from the millennial generation). I remember glancing at her twitter feed and thought to myself “Wow, she is beautiful, amazing and inspirational” I eventually worked up the courage to write her a message or as a millennial would say “I slid in her DMs.”
Sure enough, we came to find out that our families knew each other well and that led to a great conversation. We eventually exchanged numbers but stopped talking for several months. Fast forward several months, I worked up the courage to ask her on a date. For our first date we decided to go to breakfast and on a drive near the water. After breakfast we went on a long drive, on this drive I stopped at one of my favorite places in the world, the Stadium Stairs in Tacoma,WA. These are the same stairs that I would always run after my mother passed away when I was 7 years old. When we pulled into the parking garage at the stairs John Legends song, All of Me came on and I asked Emily if she would like to dance, she said yes and we ended up dancing and laughing and having fun at the place that means so much to me. At that moment I knew I would marry her one day.
This last week, I took her back to those same stairs, we danced to that same song and I asked her to marry me. Now, I’ll get to dance with her for the rest of my life.
How He Asked
After our first date EVER we came to Stadium Bowl High School Parking Lot in Tacoma, Wa. We rolled the windows down and turned the radio all the way up and danced to “All of me” by John Legend. On December 10th, 2016, we did the same thing except this night ended a little bit different. She had no idea what we were doing and in her mind we were going to look at some really cool Christmas lights (she LOVES Christmas lights.) I took her here, Stadium High School Parking Lot, because I always want us both to remember how we felt in the beginning of our relationship. That honey moon love. I took her here because I knew she would always remember (She Remembers EVERYTHING ;)
On December 10th, 2016, I was blessed with the opportunity to dance with the most beautiful woman in the world. The LOVE of my life. The woman I want to spend FOREVER with.
Let’s DANCE FOREVER, my love.
