Jill and Jordan
How We Met
Jordan and I met in 2010 at Buffs for Christ aka the Bible Chair on the campus of West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. We were friends for a few years since then, but in 2013 we were both selected as student interns at the Bible Chair. People instantly started making comments on how we should date, to which we just looked at each other, rolled our eyes, and moved on.
During that year we laughed, we cried, we got irritated at each other, we made sacrifices, we (I) stressed, and we learned. We grew a lot individually, spiritually, and as friends. It was so fun working with Jordan (most days, there were a few days he drove me nuts!) He truly became one of my best friends. After our internship ended and in May 2014 I moved to Perryton, Texas for my first “big-girl” job.
Occasionally when I would come to Amarillo/ Canyon, Jordan and I would meet and catch up with our other friends. Gradually we starting talking more, spending more time together, and then one day we went on a date and he came to visit me in Perryton. I learned later that it was an actual date not just another “friend” outing.
A few months later we began dating and the rest is history. I like to say he waited until I moved two hours away before he decided he might like me. But I wouldn’t trade our years of working together and being just friends for anything.
How He Asked
Still living two hours away, Jordan had came to Perryton to visit me one weekend. After church on Sunday I had to attend a 4-H banquet in Canadian to present an award for work.
Jordan came with me and was a stellar date I might add ;) When we got back to town, we go to my house where I was looking forward to watching the Olympics for the rest of the afternoon. I start walking into the house when he says “Did you see that cat when we pulled up?” *Disclaimer* I am not a fan of stray cats, but that’s another story for another day. Anyways, I march over to the side of my house (not seeing any cats) and Jordan is “helping” me look when he opens the gate saying he thinks it jumped the fence.
As soon as the gate opened I saw the rose pedals, the decorations, heard music playing, and I knew what was happening. I didn’t ask questions how my back yard got like that, I was just too excited. We walked up, he got on one knee, said a lot of really nice things, and asked if I’d marry him.
Obviously, I said yes! Then, bam some of our closest friends come out of my house and storage shed. They had gotten everything set up, took pictures, and were there with us during the most special day of our lives thus far.
Jordan had it all planned out and it was the perfect day! We are getting married March 25, 2017 in Amarillo, Texas and I could not be more excited!
P.S. The Olympics did not get watched that day.
