Jessica and Jason
Every year at Thanksgiving Jasons family drives down to the Frio river in Texas to spend the holiday. This was my 4th year going with them, and after the first year we had been asking my parents to join us, and make the the drive from their home in Durango, Co. This was finally the year they were able to come! Unbeknownst to me, Jason had asked my father for my hand in marriage last Christmas, and told him he wanted to do it at Thanksgiving, so my dad made sure they would be down here-and kept it a complete secret! On Thanksgiving Day before we eat, it is tradition to get dressed up and take family/couple pictures *before we stuff our faces and stain our clothes*. Llittle did I know this year Jason had an extra surprise for me! He was calm *on the outside* all day so I didn’t sense anything was different. When it got to our pictures we go get in position. After a few his sister (the photographer) tells us to turn around and face the river…as I lay my head on his chest, he starts talking to me… “you know I love you right?” Okay. Swoon. “Yes, I know. I love you too” “No, I really love you” he says *okay that’s a little out of character, with him being a man of few words* he then says there is something he’s been wanting to ask me! He pulls out the ring and gets down on one knee. I don’t remember anything specifically other than saying “YES!” It was the most perfect moment and the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. So much detail had gone into it, and he made sure it had everything that I wanted in a ring. On Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by both of our amazing families, I said yes to my best friend, and life partner! We then popped champagne, and toasted to the future. I am beyond excited to embark on this journey together, I still can’t believe it’s real!!
