Jennifer and Jose

Jose and I met through a mutual friend. I was living in Chicago and he was living in Arizona. When my friend told me about him, I told her absolutely not! I was not going to get involved in a long distance relationship with some stranger regardless of how great her and her mom made him sound! She assured me that he was a great guy and that I HAD to get to know him because he was the perfect guy for me. He was on the same page – he didn’t want to start anything because I was so far away in Chicago. I didn’t even know what he looked like! After a blurry picture was sent to me, I said ‘ok, are you trying to make this happen or not? I can’t even see him!’ It wasn’t until my friend flew back to Arizona and took a new picture with him and sent it to me. (Insert heart eye emojis) :) He had beautiful green eyes and a great smile – just like they said! Even though he caught my eye, I was still unsure about this whole long distance thing. My friend kept on being persistent and would not leave me alone about it. After much thought, I caved in and said “Fine! You can give him my number!” And the rest as they say is history! He sent me the first text on August 12, 2014. After 3 months of talking/texting/face timing, we met in person in October 2014 at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. I got in the car and he had a playlist of all of my favorite songs! Needless to say, I was already impressed! Our first date was in Scottsdale, and was followed by a fun weekend in LA with our friends at Hollywood Horror Nights. He asked me out on April 27, 2015 in Chicago as we overlooked the beauty skyline near the lake. After two years of dating, and many flights back and forth to see eachother, he proposed on May 29, 2017 in Honduras during our zip line excursion. We will be tying the knot on August 12, 2018 – exactly four years later from the first time we spoke and started this crazy long distance love story!
