Jen and Pat - Gorgeous Photos of the Surprise!

It all happened four years ago, with the simple click of a computer key; match.com. Our journey began through email until our first date on January 29, 2008. We shared a few drinks and appetizers and I can remember laughing throughout the entire date. Patrick didn’t stop talking and told story after story. I was so comfortable on that first night we met. Patrick took me out on a few more dates, until we made our relationship official.

On December 23, 2010 just two days before Christmas, the moment finally came. I spent all week excited for our dinner at L’Espalier in Boston. I chose the perfect outfit and we set out for our romantic dinner with just the two of us. We started our amazing five course dinner with some champagne. The restaurant seemed empty as we had a perfect table right by the window overlooking Boylston Street. Patrick didn’t seem like his normal self. He got up from the table to use the men’s room a handful of times, which was strange for him; although I didn’t think too much of it. As the night was coming to an end, Patrick helped me with my jacket and we set out for the elevator; of course with plans to finish off the night with a few more cocktails. As we walked outside, the Bustonian was parked outside and playing our song, “I’m Yours.” As I turned around to look at Patrick, he knelt down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was truly the most amazing moment in my life. I wish I could relive that moment all over again.

To my surprise, there was a photographer on the bus capturing every moment. With everything on camera, I could revisit this night over and over. Patrick took me to the Harvard Club to continue the celebration. During our short ride, I called some of my family members and no one answered their phones. I was so upset that I couldn’t share this news with the most important people in my life. I kept calling my parents and still, no answer. As we walked into the Harvard Club, to my surprise, Patrick had invited both of our families to celebrate with us. Just when I thought things could not get any more perfect, I was so thrilled to share out excitement with the people who mean the most to us.
