James's Proposal in Compo Beach, Westport CT

How We Met

In the summer of 2014, my best friend told me that she wanted me to meet her cousin Jim, insisting that we’d be perfect for one another. In July 2014, it finally happened. My best friend, Camie, and her Mom set up a get together at their house to make sure we met. I met Jim and we played games together all night and had tons of fun. We continued to talk afterward and go on various dates. The rest is history :)

How He Asked

Right before we officially started dating, my grandmother happened to pass away. My grandmother left me her 25-year anniversary ring, which I felt honored and so lucky to have. In April 2015, Jim and I moved in together. At that time, my Dad took the ring to keep until Jim would want to use it to propose.

On May 20th, Jim asked if we could go for a walk on the beach. It was an overcast day. As we pulled up to the beach, the sun came out and it was beautiful. We walked around for a little while enjoying the sun and quiet beach morning. After we walked around, Jim asked if we could sit on a bench overlooking the ocean. As we sat there, he told me he had a question to ask me. He got down on his knee and before he even asked I began to cry. I said, “I do”! It was a beautiful day and we were able to celebrate with our families all day long!
