Imuri and Max

How We Met

We met on the dating site- OkCupid and knew instantly we needed to be with each other. It was love at first sight and we started a long distance relationship. Every week, we would alternate driving 150 miles to see each other.

Where to Propose in Shi Shi Beach, Washington

Every week, it was worth it. After 1.5 years of a long distance relationship, he moved in with me and we couldn’t be any happier. It has been 3 years and 7 months with him, and my feelings for Max have grown tremendously.

Proposal Ideas Shi Shi Beach, Washington

How he Asked

On January 3 to January 11, 2018, we went on a trip to explore the beautiful scenery in Oregon and Washington. On January 10, we set out on the Shi Shi Beach Trailhead in Washington. The hike was about 3 miles out to the beach on a path covered by forest trees. Not long after, we made it to Shi Shi beach. It was beautiful and gloomy, nobody was there, and we had the ocean in front of us. I wanted a photo, and the way I take photos of us is by recording a video, putting the phone down, then taking still frames. I did this. I walked to him, but he decided to get on one knee.

Imuri and Imuri's Engagement in Shi Shi Beach, Washington

My heart beat fast. This was the moment. However, he pulled out a notebook paper and started reading. “This is not a proposal.” Right away, I realized he wasn’t doing it, and that he was just being sweet. Still, I loved that he did this.He read on, “When I get your parents blessings, when I can design a perfect ring for you, and when I save enough, I will be ready to propose to you, this I promise you.” After finishing his touching letter, he got up and I kissed him.I was in tears because I felt so lucky. As I folded up the note to put away in my backpack, he reached into his backpack, then got back down on one knee and said, “Now I’m ready.”

My eyes widened and I had to take a step back as he opened up a little black box and exposed a beautiful emerald and diamond ring. “Will you marry me, Imuri?” I could not believe it. “Baby!Yes!”, I exclaimed. I said, “this isn’t real!” “Look around,” he said. “It is real.” We both hadn’t been this happy in our entire lives.Eventually, we hiked back happily. As I write this, he is sleeping next to me and I can’t stop smiling.
