Emily Anne and Emerson Avery
How We Met
We met in New Orleans. It is funny because we actually went to the same grammar and middle schools and then ran in the same circles but had never heard of each other. We had a ton of mutual friends! I was about to move to DC and not looking for anything serious until I met Emerson. After one short summer I knew I didn’t want to do life without her and we’ve been together ever since.
How She Asked
We love mornings – it’s safe to say our relationship was solidified over coffee and sunrises. Whenever we go home we stay at my parents Lake House, we wake up early go to our favorite coffee spot and then go sit on the porch and watch the sunrise over the water. I knew Emerson would want something simple, sweet and us – so when we went home to visit for her birthday I woke her up like usual to watch the most amazing sunrise and listen to the birds sing. I had my friend drop off our favorite Au Laits and Beignets from Cafe Du Monde. Of course one of our pups hurt his paw that morning so she wouldn’t pay attention to me! I finally got her to come stand overlooking the water with me… when we were in the middle of kissing I said “do you want to marry me?” she said “yes, you know that” and I said “no, do you really want to marry me?”
She was completely surprised!! After about 10 minutes of her asking if this was real – I get to love her foralways <3 <3 <3
We celebrated that night at the Columns Hotel in New Orleans with our closest family and friends (that’s where her parents got engaged)!!
