How We Met

For as long as I can remember Collin has just always been a part of my life. We went to the same church growing up (since I was in the 3rd grade), and our parents were close friends so we were just always around each other. Growing up our families went camping together and we always spent Christmas Eve together after our service at church. When we were in high school Collin became one of my best friends. We would go out with friends to the movies, activities with our youth group at church, and sometimes just hang out at his house (they had a pool). Even after we both went to college I would go visit him in Oklahoma City and he would come home to hang out with me. Our friendship became more and we started dating on January 18, 2014. The rest is history.

How He Asked

The week after Christmas we both had off of work so we just hung out doing different activities. On Tuesday, December 29, we were running errands and shopping in town when I noticed that Collin was on his phone a lot more than normal. I was a little suspicious but didn’t say anything. The next day I had plans to meet my cousin, Kasie, for brunch and catch up, since it had been awhile since we had seen each other. Collin informed me that the next day his family wanted to go to the arboretum in Dallas to see the 12 days of Christmas exhibit and that my family was going also. I thought this was a great idea until I found out he wanted to go during my brunch time with my cousin. This did not go over well; I asked Kasie if she wanted to join us the next day and she of course said sure and that we could meet earlier if needed. So the next day, December 30, I met my cousin for breakfast and then we went to meet Collin and I’s families at the arboretum. We started walking through the arboretum looking at the 12 days of Christmas and when we got to day 6, 6 geese a laying, he handed me a note. I read the note, which was very sweet, and when I looked up he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. My response was OF COURSE!! Then we got to celebrate with both of our families, who had witnessed the whole thing. Needless to say, I forgave him for messing up my plans with my cousin.
