Heather and Andrew
On the morning of June 1st I woke up and began getting ready for work as normal. My sister and I carpool to work together and drop my Nephew at day care en route. Our drive was like any other day, until in the parking lot of my Nephews school my sister said “give this to Auntie Heather”, and I was handed an envelope titled “clue one”. This was the beginning of the most spectacular proposal that exceeded all of my expectations, and trumped any Pinterest board I had ever made.
I was sent on a scavenger hunt for the day, and was sent to get my nails done, my hair done, for lunch, cocktails and then back home to find an outfit, and the most stunning shoes covered in swarovski crystals.
Inside the shoe box was the final clue — “I love you with all of my heart and have done since the day we met! I hope you’ve enjoyed your day so far, but it’s not over yet; there’s one surprise left. Follow Lauren, she knows the way – I’ll meet you there.”
We got in the car and set off on an hours drive to St. Catherine’s, Ontario. I had no idea where we were going. We pulled up to the gates of the most beautiful mansion, and the gates opened for us perfectly on time. The car stopped… my sister opened the door for me and said “this is it”. I immediately began sobbing and shaking. “Follow the path all the way around; you’ll know where to go” my sister said as sent me on my way.
I began walking the path, which was covered in rose petals. I saw candles lit through the trees and a photographer on the balcony. I could finally see the end of the walkway, where I saw my boyfriend standing on the deck, in a shirt and tie – pacing.
There were huge silver helium balloons that said “MARRY ME?”. I walked down to him, where he hugged me and asked me how my day was. I couldn’t speak, and just cried and nodded to everything he said. “I have a question to ask you”, he got down on one knee and presented me with my dream ring. “Will you marry me?” again, I sobbed and nodded, he stood up and said “was that a yes?” – more sobbing and nodding – he slipped the ring onto my finger.
OH MY GOD!!!!! “I have one more surprise for you”, he pointed up and both sets of parents were on the balcony cheering and crying. He had flown my parents and his in from Scotland! Que more sobbing!!!! I was led up the stairs of this beautiful mansion that he had rented for the occasion, which was decorated head to toe for us. At the top of the stairs I fell into my moms arms, then my dads, and the rest of the family greeted us with hugs and cheers. It was the most magical day and the proposal was next level amazing. I am on cloud nine and writing this gives me chills – who knew I had such a romantic!!!!
