Hannah and John
How We Met
John and I met in December 2014 at a Christmas concert. A mutual friend introduced us and felt like we would make great friends. We hit it off and decided we would give this relationship thing a try. Little did I know two weeks later he would move three and a half hours away for his job. So we were long distance for a year and a half and then his job moved him back to the area and I was over the moon. I was head over heels for this guy and I knew from the beginning I wanted to marry him. John’s the most amazing man and I love him so much!
How He Asked
In May 2016, I registered for the Disney Princess 5k at Walt Disney World. For months I planned and trained for this event and John was going to go with me. We bought park tickets, reserved rooms and planned our ultimate Disney vacation. Little did I know that John was planning the sweetest proposal ever. Johns aunt and uncle went with us as well to watch the race and spend a few day is Disney. I didn’t know the real reason they were there was to see the proposal. On Friday, February 24th, we woke up around 4:15 am to head to Epcot where the race would be held. I had no idea what wasn’t about to happen. We got to the race site about 45 minutes before the race and I took my place as the family went and found a spot to stay while I was running my 5k. John never left me until I started the race. He was there at the start telling me he loved me so much and he would be waiting on me at the finish. I still had no idea as to what was about to happen. Once I got to the 3 mile marker I sent him a picture that I was on my way to the finish line. I was so excited because I was about to finish my first 5k. I crossed the finish line and John was there cheering me on! He told me where to meet him and the family. I received my metal and started walking to John. As I walked through the tents there John and his family were yelling my name. It was such an amazing feeling. He met me there and hugged me and told me how proud he was of me that I finished my first race. He then looked at me with a look I’ve never seen before and said he had a question to ask. He then got down on one knee in front of so many Disney racers and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was so shocked and taken back that it took me a few minutes to realize what had happened. People cheered, I cried and now I get to be the next Mrs. O’Malley! Disney is the place where “dreams do come true!”
