Hannah and Jared
How We Met
Jared and I first met at the end of my sophomore year of college at Ohio University in 2010. He was eating lunch with a friend of mine, and that is how we were first introduced, but we didn’t start dating until almost two years later at the start of our senior year. He was from a town about an hour away from my hometown and when we went home for the summer, he asked me to come to his friend’s 4th of July party. I went and then we went to an amusement park together the next day with two of our friends, and I remember thinking that it was one of the most fun days I’ve ever had. I knew from that moment on that he was different. Our relationship became official about a month later when we jumped out of a plane together and skydived for the first time. It has been an amazing adventure ever since.
How He Asked
In the summer of 2010, I had the opportunity to intern abroad in Dublin, Ireland and I fell in love with the country and its culture. Fast forward six years later and my boyfriend, Jared, and I were able to travel back so that I could share with him everything I love about Ireland. Little did I know he would make me love it even more. The second day of our travels, Jared planned for a private tour to pick us up, and our tour guide, Janine, drove us outside the city to the beautiful Irish countryside. She took us to the Guinness Estate where Jared asked her to come out and take some pictures of us in front of a breathtaking backdrop.
I was completely oblivious to the entire thing and never expected him to propose on our trip – he had convinced me it wasn’t happening until this winter, so I was blown away when I glanced over at him and noticed that he was down on one knee.
It was so overwhelming and wonderful and I will never forget the amazing scenery surrounding us as I said say yes to the most amazing man I have ever met.
Janine made it extra special crying tears of joy as she snapped shots of the entire thing.
She then brought out champagne for us to enjoy while overlooking Guinness Lake where the show “Vikings” from History Channel was filming below (we have to start watching that show now). It was a truly spectacular beginning to the rest of our lives together, and I am very excited that these two Americans have every excuse to always head back to Ireland for a visit.
