Hailey and Andrew

How We Met

Our adventure began in 2012, during a study-abroad trip to Peru. Our second night, the group went out and ended up at a salsa dancing club named, Mama Africa. After a few practice rounds, and maybe a Pisco Sour or two, Andrew asked me to be his salsa dancing partner. The night was filled with laughter, horrible dancing, and a ton of fun. That night started something neither of us could have predicted; the best adventure of our lives. Now 5 and a half year later we are engaged and couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds.

How He Asked

Where do I even begin? The adventure began 5 and a half years ago after he asked me to be his salsa-partner during a study abroad trip to Peru. Life hasn’t been the same since. Andrew surprised me with a trip up the PCH (Pacific Costal Highway) San Diego to San Francisco during fall break from my Master’s program. The entire trip we explored, ate AMAZING food and had some awesome craft beer. Our last day arrived and he told me that our last excursion was going to be the Muir Woods National Monument. I have literally always wanted to see the magnificence of the redwoods so I was beyond excited. This had been a literal dream vacation, little did I know it was going to be a vacation that changed our life forever. About halfway up our hike Andrew began saying the sweetest things to me, explaining how the past years have been the best he has ever experienced and he can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with me. I instantly began crying I knew it! I could see in his cloudy baby blue eyes that the man of my dreams was about to ask me to be his wife! He got down on one knee and everyone around of started clapping and cheering. BEST DAY EVER!
