Gwen and Jamie
How We Met: We were introduced by mutual friends at a bar called the Full Moon in Cardiff on the 9th of March 2013. The first thing I said to the man of my dreams was ‘Hey I heard you were shy. My name is Gwen. What’s your name’. We spoke for 2 hours straight and when I left at 4am, I had the biggest smile on my face because Jamie text as soon as I left to go home and I knew I’d be seeing him again soon.
How He Asked: Although I had an inkling, nothing could have prepared me the night I got engaged. Jamie arranged for us to be picked up and taken to the Kabatas dock where a private 55ft yacht was waiting for us. Against a sunset backdrop on the Bosphorous, there was a table laid with flowers and the most delicious seafood dinner (way to my heart much?) We saw dolphins, the Dolmabahçe palace and Rumeli fortress and drank cuban libres. As the night came alive, the Bosphorous turned into a mirror of all the colours of the Asian and European continents on either side of the strait. He even put together a playlist of my favourite music. Almost three hours in, we were under the Galata Bridge when he took me to the bow of the yacht and said words I will never ever forget. He chose that spot because we would be the bridge that connected two families, cultures and worlds, like the bridge connecting the two continents. And then he got down on one knee & asked me to marry him. I had only one thing to say: YES! I fell in love all over again with Jamie Louis Arthur Cadwell, my fiancé
