Grant and Kristen
How We Met
We were introduced by a mutual friend in October 2014. Kristen was a volunteer firefighter with the Buies Creek Fire Department and I worked with her fire chief at Fuquay-Varina Fire Department. He told me that he had a nice sweet girl that I needed to be introduced to and see how things went. I began talking to Kristen through Facebook and than text messaging. We went out on several dates throughout October. We went to a Brantley Gilbert concert on October 30, 2014 and after this I officially popped the question and asked her to be my girlfriend.
How He Asked
I had no certain date picked out to propose and was going to pop the question 2 days prior but due to bad weather chose to do it at a later date. Kristen is graduating from pharmacy school in May 2019 and being a pharmacist is something that she is very passionate about so I knew that I wanted to incorporate this into the proposal somehow. While Kristen was in high school and most of college she worked at Parker Drug Company and had a great relationship with everyone she worked with. I was able to get a pill bottle from them and had their help with getting the message on the prescription label for her to read.
Now that I had that props I was ready to ask. On the evening of December 11, 2017 we attended a Christmas Party for my shift at work. Afterwards, I told her that I wanted to see the Christmas tree in the middle of Campbell University’s campus. As we walked around the tree I told her that I had been to the dentist that day for a toothache and he had given me a medication for pain and I needed her to look at it. Upon showing her the bottle I got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. Through a lot of tears she was able to say “yes”!! We will be getting married in October of 2019 at The Barn at Broadslab!
