Dave and Lauren | Golf Tournament Proposal
How We Met: Lauren and I met 5 years ago in an airport terminal on our way to Mexico for our graduation trips in university. I had arrived at the airport with my friend who was dating her friend and we were introduced and became acquainted as we embarked on a trip that was supposed to end an era. Rather, this trip was just the beginning in a story that has currently brought us to our engagement.
How He Asked: Over the past few years, Lauren has been giving me flack for not proposing, though with the 4 year doctorate program which led me to opening up my business, the time was just not right. Throughout this time, Lauren the hopeless romantic would always tell me about her dream engagement and dream wedding. Though I am not known for my romantic expertise, I did pay attention to all of her wishes which included the following: a) she wanted all of her family to be around b) it would have to be ok’d by all of her uncles c) we would celebrate after d) we would get the moment captured.
After I okayed it with all of her uncles I decided to propose to we at her father’s memorial golf tournament – at which many of her friends as well as all of her family would be in attendance. After a beautiful day of golf, I convinced her to help me look for my wallet which I thought I lost on the 18th hole – which was visible by the clubhouse as well as where the reception was to be held. After I got her to the 18th hole, the MC attracted everyone’s attention to the 18th hole where I was on one knee asking her to be my bride. She was completely surprised and then greeted by her family and my family while we celebrated the night away. The moment was captured perfectly by our photographer, Patti.
