Gabrielle and Bradley

How We Met

Living in Philadelphia – it’s common to “go down the shore” on the weekends and with having college friends having shore houses I often spent my summer weekends in Brigantine and Margate. However, one summer weekend back in 2011 – i found myself at the Princeton  in Avalon, NJ where this guy who had his shirt completely unbuttoned stumbled upon me and introduced himself. Sooner than later, we went on our first date to Derek’s in Manayunk, which was the start of my first semester as a senior at Phila U. It went well, we stayed in touch and met up once in a while in Manayunk at local bars. 2 years passed, we went our separate ways, Brad enrolled in the masters program at Villanova, I started my career in merchandising and moved into the city. In the fall of 2012, my roommate (Christina) and I bought tickets to the Passion Pit concert and Brad texted me that week asking if I was going – we met up as a group and had an amazing time together! Sooner than later – I found myself spending more and more time with Brad – before I knew it we were at Firefly where I asked Brad if we would be my boyfriend! Who would have ever thought. One year passed, and he became my roommate and today I smile every-time I call him my “fiance”!

How He Asked

It was just a normal Saturday for Brad and I, we went to High Street on Market Street which is one of our favorite breakfast spots in the city. Shortly after, we made our way over to Founding Fathers on South Street to meet our friends to watch the Villanova basketball game. After the game, I just wanted to go home since I wasn’t feeling the best after an ugly sweater party from the night prior. He asked if we could take a walk, and I thought we were just going to look at property for sale however as we walked down the street Brad kept looking around and in the blink of an eye he got down one knee – luckily enough his brother who is a photographer caught the whole thing in action! We celebrated with champagne at Rouge and then dined with our family at one of our favorite restaurants – The Chophouse!
