Fabiola and Frankie
How We Met
Frankie and I met through my sister, niece and nephew. When they came to visit one Christmas, they could not stop talking about how this guy from their church was interested in me and how amazing he was. I saw pictures and immediately thought he was gorgeous, but I didn’t put much mind to it since he lived in a completely different state. A month after my family’s visit I got a message on Facebook from Frankie. We hit it off instantly and the rest is history!
How He Asked
It was my birthday weekend and I didn’t really have anything planned because I had so many exams to study for. However, my friend needed me to go see her try on her second wedding dress at a boutique in Winter Park. I headed to the “boutique” with my best friend and her sister since we were all her bridesmaids. On the way there, she called us to let us know that she was running late. My best friend suggested that we stop at Rollins College in the meantime to take pictures of her baby since it was in the same area. This was the exact same place where she had her maternity shoot a few months before and she kept insisting on taking a picture of the baby in the same gazebo where she took her pictures. The problem was, we couldn’t find it. We spent about fifteen minutes looking for it until she finally spotted it.
As we were walking toward the gazebo, I noticed music playing and a bunch of people surrounding it. I wear glasses and didn’t have them on that day so I could not see faces, only a group of people. While we kept walking I asked her what we were going to do since the gazebo was occupied. She didn’t answer. As I got closer I noticed her step dad and one of Frankie’s family members. I looked back and asked my friends what was going on, and they just told me to “go”. I walked down the steps and into the center of the crowd. As the mariachi was playing to me I was wondering when Frankie was going to show up because at that point I knew what was going on. What I didn’t realize was that he was there the entire time, dressed up as the mariachis and hiding his face under a huge sombrero. When he lifted his head and began to sing, my heart dropped. My emotions took over me and I could not hold back my tears. He sang a beautiful song and when it was over he got on his knee and asked me if I would marry him. Of course I said yes and when I finally looked around I realized that our family from Texas, Miami, Puerto Rico and Orlando were all there to witness the most amazing moment of my life! They all helped so much in making this dream proposal a reality and I am forever grateful! I cannot stop thanking God for making me the most blessed woman in this Universe and I cannot wait to marry the man of my dreams!
