Fabiola and Cole
How We Met
When I saw Cole for the first time I walked up to him and said “I know who you are.” He replied “I know who you are, Fab.” We both smiled and didn’t talk much the rest of the night. Two months later one of my best girlfriends asked me to go to the gym with her and mentioned that her friend from high school was training us. When I walked in, it was him! We worked out together everyday for four months, texted all day every single day, went on tons of dates… then I got an internship in NYC. I was only there for two weeks before he came to visit to officially make me his girlfriend. He said the words I’ll never forget: “when you know, you know.” We knew the second we made eye contact, it was forever.
How He Asked
Right before graduating college, I received a job offer in Seattle. In January of 2017, Cole and I left sunny South Florida and our families in order to be together in rainy Washington. One month later my mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. My family is my whole wide world, and Cole always knew that. The moment I received the phone call, he took me to the airport, held me in his arms the entire (6 hour) flight, took me straight to the hospital, hugged my mom, told me everything was going to be perfect, kissed me goodbye, and got back on a (6 hour and 40 minute) flight to Seattle, having work the next morning. It was the hardest year of our lives, for so many reasons. One of the biggest being that we were away from each other most of the year, while I was with my mom in Florida during her treatment. The harder things got, the harder we loved each other. He was my rock, and I was his. November 2017, my mom was officially and miraculously in remission. Both my parents and sisters spent Christmas and New Years with us in Seattle. On a rainy Friday afternoon after Christmas, Cole got on one knee and told me he loved me from the day he saw me. My mom, and entire family were there. It was the greatest moment of my life and I can’t wait to be with my best friend forever, and ever.
