Emma and Austin

How We Met

It all started in 2013 when Austin and I became Facebook friends. We went to separate high schools but have several mutual friends, siblings go to the same school, and our parents went to college together. We ended up in conversation over messenger, which eventually ended in him asking for my number. However, I didn’t hear from him until several years later when he randomly messaged me saying he was home (Fort Worth) for break and wanted to meet me for lunch. Very skeptical, I met Austin on November 26, 2016 for the very first time for sushi. The second I sat down I knew there was something different about him. We talked for hours that afternoon at lunch, as the conversation was endless. Unfortunately, Austin had to go back to Memphis, TN to finish college but we talked every chance we had until he came back for Christmas break a few weeks later.

Austin asked me to be his girlfriend on our third date because he “just couldn’t wait any longer”. I knew this was a big commitment because I hardly knew him and I knew there would be several years of long distance ahead. Although it might seem crazy, I was so sure about him that there was no way I could say no. Being in a long distance relationship is by no means easy… but it has allowed us to cherish the little time we have together. One of the first things we did as a couple was start a devotional, which not only brought us closer to the Lord but closer together. I have never met a guy who is so on fire for the Lord, which is what I love most about Austin among many many more things. Fast forward eleven months and I found myself saying, “yes” to a handsome boy down on one knee!

How He Asked

On November 22, 2017 we had “reservations” to one of my favorite restaurants in Downtown Fort Worth. As I was waiting for Austin to pick me up for dinner, one of my friends Bryce picked me up by surprise, in a fancy car instead! I was handed an iPad that played a sweet video from Austin and a sweet playlist he put together for me to listen to on the way there. Instead of that fancy dinner, I was taken to a beautiful vineyard.

We pulled up and my dad was standing there waiting to escort me down to where Austin was waiting with our sweet doodle puppy. When I got down to where he was standing, Austin professed his feelings, read something to me out of his Bible, then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.

Emma and Austin's Engagement in Dove Ridge Vineyard

Our families came out of hiding and congratulated us with a champagne toast and dinner celebration. Austin spent so much time preparing for this special day and making sure that every step flowed smoothly. He hired a photographer and videographer to capture this sweet memory for us to remember forever.
