Emily and Mitch

webquality18How We Met: Mitch says the first time he saw me was at the bowling alley on October 1st on a Wednesday night.  He remembered I was wearing a purple shirt and jeans and I had my hair up in a messy ponytail.  He told me he couldn’t take his eyes off of me.  We met for the first time a few weeks later through some mutual friends after one of his college football games he played in.  We clicked right away.  Minutes after meeting, I knew I was in trouble.  I had a huge crush on him.  The next day he asked for my number.  On November 28th, on a Friday night, we decided to go on a date the following night.  The rest is history.

How He Asked: I work at my family business that grows and sells plants. I was told by my manager on Thursday to join my Dad on his business trip to Jacksonville on the following Friday morning. My manager suggested that I “don’t dress too businessy… maybe a sundress or something.” On Friday morning, still clueless, I headed towards Jacksonville with my Dad. On the way, he told me that he needed to stop by a park to look at some new plants that he might want to start selling. We arrived at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park and began to look around. We both pointed out some plants that we thought were neat looking. My Dad even made a few “business calls”. As we continued walking, we came across a cute gazebo.

We walked in and my dad took a photo of me in it. He then decided to take another one from far away and told me to stay right there. He disappeared around the corner, and to my surprise, Mitch came walking up to me. He came in and sat next to me in the gazebo. I was completely shocked. He told me he knew he loved me since February 1st and how I was a blessing and a joy in his life.

He told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He then got down on his knee, pulled out a beautiful little red box and asked me to marry him and I said, “Yes!” I was speechless. Afterwards, we had a romantic lunch in St. Augustine and both of our families held a party for us that night. It couldn’t have been a more special day.
