Elizabeth and Kevin
How We Met
We met through mutual friends at Something Wicked, a Halloween-themed music festival in Houston, Texas. Soon, we became Instagram friends, but just kept it casual for about 4 months. It wasn’t until we ran into each other at friend’s party in February when we decided to exchange numbers. That night, we hung out and just talked the entire time. We learned we were both really into health and fitness so he invited me to a strength and conditioning gym just outside of downtown. I guess you can say that was our first date.
How He Asked
We had wanted to take a trip to Europe for the longest time. We had discussed as far back as when we first started dating, that neither of us had ever been out of the country, besides trips to Mexico. Fast forward a couple of years, and we finally decided we were going to visit Ireland. On our second day there, we hopped in our tiny rental car and drove 3 hours to Ireland’s west coast to see the beautiful Cliffs of Moher, a breathtaking scenery that had been the top priority on our bucket list; I soon found out why it was so important to Kevin. We walked the entire stretch of the trail that ran along the Cliffs and finally sat down near the edge to take in the views. That’s when he pulled out this tiny version of Ellie’s Adventure Book from the movie, Up! Inside the book were tiny photos from our many adventures: skiing in colorado, EDC in Las Vegas, kayaking in Austin. As I flipped to the last page, I found the quote, “You and me, we’re in a club now.” He told me to turn that last page. Hidden behind the last page was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. As I asked him what that was, he got on his knee, took my hand, and asked me to be his wife. I was crying the entire time. I remember when Kevin and I first started talking about marriage, I mentioned I always wanted to be proposed to near cliffs; I was thinking something more local in California. Instead we crossed an ocean because he wanted to propose to me on the most beautiful cliffs in the world to propose to me.
