Elizabeth and Justin
How We Met
On May 25, 2010 I met the love of my life. I was 14 and it was the summer before my freshman year of high school and I was at a baseball game where I met some of the kids that would be coming to my school in the fall. I flirted with one of the boys and gave him my number, but he had to use his friend’s phone to save it. The other friend with the phone ended up texting me occasionally (sometimes I hit him with that ntb) and I convinced him to run cross country with me. I suspected he had a crush on me, but he never tried to be anything more than friends. He even told me once that rumors of him liking me were not true. We were just good friends until 2 years later when he helped me see I was getting into a bad relationship. He became my best friend I talked to every single day. One day I realized he was a really cute 16 year old and I was head over heels. Funny how you fall in love with the person you never thought you would. Young love is real and high school sweethearts still exist, I promise.
How He Asked
Justin and I have been dating for a little over 4 and half years and went on a family vacation with his parents to Maui, Hawaii. The second night we were there, we had dinner reservations, but before his mom wanted to take sunset pictures. I thought nothing of it until we walked down the beach for a couple minutes and didn’t see his parents. I began to get a little frustrated because I didn’t see them and didn’t understand what was going on. We finally came to their chairs it all started to come together. A perfect evening with a beautiful sunset in paradise? It doesn’t get any better than that. I finally saw the “Will you marry me?” written in the sand. My heart immediately started pounding because I knew the moment I had dreamed about for so long was finally happening and my life was about to change forever. I told myself I wasn’t going to cry but as soon as he got down on one knee I lost it. I said “Yes, of course” and saw him slide the most perfect ring on my finger. I’ll never forget that moment on the best vacation ever! I’m getting married to my best friend!
