Elise and Casey
How We Met
Our story began in August of 2007. Casey and I met at our first job; The Chatterbox Drive In. We met when Casey was 16 and I was 14. We had no interest in each other at the time and went about our lives. The next summer Casey went off to college for four years at Delaware Valley College (now University) so we lost contact.
Fast forward to the summer of 2012. Casey finished college and came back to the Chatterbox Drive In while hunting for a full time job. We became reacquainted and enjoyed each others company at work. It wasn’t until the winter when we realized that maybe our feelings for each other were stronger than we initially realized.
Casey asked me on our first date in January of 2013. Initially, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go or not, but my mom reminded me that I had nothing to lose by going. (Thanks, mom!)
In February of 2013 Casey officially asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest is history.
How He Asked
It has become tradition that every year Casey and I go apple picking at Och’s Orchard in Warwick, NY. Every trip I would torture Casey and force him to take a ton of pictures with me. One pose in particular became our favorite; I would jump onto Casey’s back for a piggy-back pose. We took that picture our first trip to the orchard and it became a pose that we would reenact every year.
Our trip on September 30, 2017 was no different. In fact I jokingly warned Casey the day before our trip that he better be ready to hold me up! Little did I know…
Our September 30th trip to the orchard started like any other. The only off thing was that when I initially asked to take pictures toward the beginning of the trip, Casey responded with, “Not right now” and that we would take photos later. The apple picking trip went on like every other. Finally after collecting a decent amount of apples I asked Casey if we could finally take some pictures together and he agreed it was time.
Little did I know, Casey winked at my family to let them know it was time to ask the question he had been waiting to ask. We took a few pictures together and as we were wrapping up Casey asked “for just one more”. At this point I was a little confused, but happily agreed, and the next thing I knew, Casey was getting down on one knee and asking for my hand in marriage! After many shrieks & happy tears, I finally managed to get a “YES!” out.
Luckily my family was there to take photos and videos throughout the whole proposal. We will have those to cherish forever. Och’s Orchard will forever hold a special place our hearts
