How We Met
It all started 6 years ago when my fiancé was deployed. I was Skyping his friend and from the first time he saw me, he said he was going to marry me one day. Skip ahead 6 years, two job changes, and one giant move from Chicago to Charlotte.
How He Asked
I had been teasing him quite a bit in front of our friends that I was ready and waiting for him to propose. What I didn’t know was that he’d had the ring for weeks before popping the question. On the night of December 20th, we were opening presents early before I headed home to Chicago to spend Christmas with my family. We’d finished opening all the wrapped presents and he asked me if I wanted another surprise now or when I came home. Of course, I said now! He had already been on his knees when he came over to me saying “You know I love you very much, and I don’t want you to think that I don’t want to marry you.
I have always said I was going to from the first time I laid eyes on you during deployment.” Then he pulled out the ring, to which my first response was “is that real?!” He said, “yes, now will you let me propose already!” He asked me to spend our forever together and I said yes yes yes! And then happy-cried for two hours. It was quiet and sweet and the opposite of what I thought I wanted. It was perfect and I can’t wait to marry him!
