Diana and Matthew
How We Met
Matt and I met in college at the University of Oklahoma. I was a sophomore and he was a junior. Our first encounter was at his fraternity house, Lambda Chi. I was hanging out in one of the rooms and Matt came and sat next to me. We both will say it was love at first sight. Ever since that moment, we were pretty inseparable.
We have so many fun memories to look back on from college and although we never officially dated, we always, always knew that someday, somehow, we would end up together. We belonged together and we both knew that. After college, we moved to different cities but we kept in touch and remained close friends. After a few years, Matt moved back to Dallas and the stars perfectly aligned. Before we let any more time go by, we started dating. After that, it was pretty obvious to the both of us that we never wanted to be apart again.
How He Asked
For New Years this year, Matt and I flew to California to see OU, our alma mater, play in the Rose Bowl. The next day, we took the scenic drive to Ranchos Palos Verdes. Matt was acting unusually nervous on the way to a resort called The Terranea, where we had dinner reservations. Once we arrived, he suggested that we take a walk around the resort.
We then ventured down to a cliff overlooking the ocean. With the naturally romantic background set in place, Matt got down on one knee and proposed. It was the most fairytale-like moment of my life. Afterward, we had dinner and popped champagne to celebrate.
