Diana and Adam
How We Met
Adam and I met way back when, I was 8 years old and he was 9. We met at church one summer when he was out in California visiting his father. I always had he biggest crush on him and looked forward to him visiting every summer. It wasn’t until he was 17 years old that he officially moved to California from Illinois (for school *wink wink* it was for me.. =). We didn’t officially start dating until I was 20 and he was 21. It was true love and I knew from the beginning that he would one day be my hubby!
How He Asked
It was our usual trip to Chicago to visit his family before the holidays and to celebrate his nephews birthday. We planned to bring my mom with us to visit Chicago for her first time. As we began to plan our days out Adam told me that we should go ice skating in downtown on Friday and I agreed. Friday morning we woke up went out for breakfast with some of his family and my mom. When we were leaving the restaurant I noticed that we were going in the opposite direction of downtown, turns out they were stalling so his family could all make in to downtown in time. We arrived at Millennium Park and walked around for a bit until he finally said that we could go ice skate. When we got to the ice skating rink his whole family was there and for a split second i thought “maybe he will propose?” but I just kept going along with everything and so we finally started ice skating. As we got in the middle of the ice skating rink the music playing changed to Ed Sheeran’s song “Thinking out Loud” his sister asked to take a picture of us after she took it she yelled “this picture is so cute you have to see it” as she showed it to us I noticed the sign in the picture that read “Will You Marry Me?” I immediately started crying and turned to look at Adam and he was down on one knee. He told me how much he loved me and how it was time that we take the next step in our relationship. As tears rolled down his cheeks and mine too he asked “Diana will you marry me?” I said “Yes I will” he opened the little red box and there was the ring of my dreams in the hands of the man of my dreams. I starred and he wouldn’t move, it was so funny I thought I was supposed to take the ring myself. He finally moved and put the ring on my finger. I jumped in his arms and then I finally noticed everyone around us was looking and chanting for us (including my sister who flew out to Chicago that morning). I looked up at all our family and everyone clapping. I kept hugging him and waving at everyone. We were both shaking and laughing as we skated off to the side to meet with our family. It was a fairytale and my dream come true the world really did stop for just us two. After 5 years and 7 months, I finally get to marry the man of my dreams.
