Danielle and Slade

How we met:

Slade and I met through my brother. My brother and Slade were at the lake together and my brother went up to him and was like, “Hey, you’re going to take my sister on a date. Slade responded with a grin and said, “Alright.” He thought my brother, Blake, was joking. Blake said, “No, I’m serious!” Slade said, “Okay I can do that.” Blake got home from the lake and told me, “Danielle, I’m going to set you up on a date with my friend, he’s a great guy and if you want me to ever like the guy you date, this is the guy.” I use to be shy about going on dates so I told my brother no. He kept begging me, and I finally agreed. A week later I drove to his hometown and road a tractor with him as our first hang out, and it was great. I went back only a few nights later. So once we saw that there was potential in the relationship he came to pick me up at my house and we went to eat and saw a movie. The rest is history.

How he asked:

Two weeks before the proposal it was my Mom’s birthday. She called and told me that her coworkers rented out a place downtown for July 25th, and she would really like it if Slade and I came. Not knowing this was a surprise engagement party being planned for me, we said we would. My sister in law Emily called me and said, “Hey I won a free make up and hair trial with Marlo Haus. I can bring someone, and I have to use it by the 25th, so I thought it would be perfect if we went and got our hair and and make up done for your Mom’s party.” I immediately said, “Yes!” Again, I didn’t know this was all part of the surprise proposal party planned by Inspire Events.

We had so much fun getting our make-up and hair done by Marlo Haus. We then drove back to Emily’s house where Slade was waiting on me to go to the party. Slade and I went to Broadway 10 for appetizers and drinks, I didn’t know even the restaurant was in on the surprise, and the videographer, Leslee Layton Films was shooting from the second floor the whole time. We left there to head to the party at Waldo’s Pond. Little did I know we were on our way to our surprise proposal party.

A fake valet took Slade’s truck, and as we started to walk towards the party, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever as Sheradee Hurst Photography and Leslee Layton Films hid behind a tree capturing the entire thing.

The night kept getting better as we started walking towards the barn around the corner were my friends and family under a beautiful tent decked out by Marianne’s Rentals, complete with food by Abby Road Catering, music by DJ Chasen Shaw, and drinks by Blue Label Bartending. There was a beautiful, bright cake by Amy Cakes with a custom cake topper by Hurst Precision Etching and personalized signs by Hazel Paper Company. The night was so magical and I am still in awe of how everything played out that night. It was the most perfect proposal and the best night I could have ever dreamed of having.
