Danielle and Eric
How We Met
Eric and I met in Southside in Pittsburgh, PA. It was a pretty instant connection, and we never seemed to run out of things to talk about. We agreed to go out on a date and the rest is history!
How He Asked
Eric and I love to go on hikes to see waterfalls. We have see countless waterfalls in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and New York. The very first waterfall we went to was called Jackson Falls in Apollo, PA. We have gone back to see this particular waterfall two more times, so when Eric suggested that we go see it for a fourth time, I thought nothing of it! On our drive there, we talked, laughed and listened to music. Everything was very normal and lighthearted! Looking back, he didn’t act suspicious at all. (When I asked him about this afterwards, he said “I wasn’t nervous! I wouldn’t have asked you if I didn’t think you were going to say yes!”)Surprisingly, the weather was beautiful, sunny, and warm. On our walk to the falls, I told Eric, “I have such a good feeling about today!” He laughed and asked, “Really? How come?” I said I wasn’t sure but that it must have been the nice weather! He smiled and agreed and we continued our walk, casually talking as we went along. On our hikes, Eric brings his GoPro and documents our trip with pictures and videos. When we finally arrived at the falls, he asked me to stand in front of the falls so he could set up the tripod with the GoPro and angle it so the waterfall would be in our picture. Not suspicious in the least, I stood where he wanted, looking around at the pretty scenery around us. The next thing I knew, Eric tapped my waist, and when I turned around, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I was so surprised and overwhelmed with joy! I couldn’t be happier to be marrying my best friend and the man of my dreams! The video that captured the entire moment is a nice bonus :)
I also think it’s fun to mention that three days before our engagement, I woke up and texted Eric telling him about a dream that I had about us getting engaged. He made a comment about the silly dreams I always have, and he changed the conversation. Little did I know, three days later that dream would become a reality. I think this is such a fun part of our engagement story, because somehow, someway God was letting me know that this was happening. There were so many little positive signs about our engagement that make me feel so comforted and pleased about our future together.
