How We Met
We met when in high school in 2010 when I was just 16 and he was 18, graduating and on his way to college. We started off as friends for a while and I just couldn’t get over how funny, smart, and charming he was. We’ve come to find out that we both went to the same elementary and middle school as well. Although nothing happened and we eventually lost touch for about 2 years until he reached out to me in March 2013. We began spending time together, again as friends, and eventually realized we had deeper feelings for one another and decided to start the journey to a relationship that I could have only dreamed about. We dated all through college and through both of our Masters, and have been inseparable ever since. Four years later, he finally popped the question in the most perfect way imaginable.
How He Asked
Our four year anniversary had come and unfortunately we weren’t able to celebrate due to my last CPA exam. We decided that we would make a double celebration out of it for me finishing my last exam and our anniversary by doing a mini trip down to Key Largo. I had no idea where we would be staying and once we pulled up to the resort I was speechless. It was on a private beach all to ourselves, perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. Right outside of our room there was a beautiful blue dock extending right over the ocean and he kept on insisting to go watch the sunset right before dinner.
As the sun was just beginning to set, we stepped onto the dock and I immediately began to tear up. There was a picnic basket setup with champagne and 105 roses that he arranged himself. We sat down to watch the sunset and he began pulling out glass bottles with message scrolls in each one.
The first letter was from his brother, the second from his parents, and the third from my parents. At this point I knew what was happening and I couldn’t stop crying. The last and final bottle was supposed to be from him and when I opened the scroll it was empty. That’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
After lots of tears and hugs, we made our way over to dinner to celebrate at a restaurant right on the beach. The table was secluded from the rest of the restaurant and was directly by the water. As we got closer, I saw both of our parents sitting at the table, waiting to celebrate the night away with us.
