Cristina and Nathaniel
How We Met
Nathaniel and I met in the fall of 2013 at the University of Colorado in Boulder. We matched on Tinder, but soon found out that we were in the same engineering management class. We started talking and spending time together, and two weeks later we started dating. Neither of us was looking for a relationship at the time, but we quickly fell in love and moved in together soon after. We graduated college and moved to Seattle to start our careers – Nathaniel as an aerospace engineer and me as an environmental engineer. As our relationship progressed, we discovered shared passions, one of which was travel. We travelled around North America for the first few years of our relationship, but our first big trip was in summer 2017 when I brought Nathaniel to Menorca, Spain. My mom’s side of the family is from Menorca, and I have been visiting the island since I was a baby, but I knew that I wanted to share this special place with Nathaniel. Being able to spend time together in a place so important to me made me fall even more in love with him.
How He Asked
I knew early on that I wanted to marry Nathaniel, and I even pushed for a proposal a couple years into our relationship, but it wasn’t until our trip to Austria in March 2018 that he got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. It was the most perfect moment – snow was falling, nobody else was in sight, the classic view of Hallstatt was in the background – and then he pulled out the most beautiful ring. The proposal was even more special due to the fact that his parents met and fell in love in Austria. We are planning on getting married in Menorca, where my parents met and fell in love. I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. ♥️
