Courtney and Nick
How We Met
Nick and I met at Ball State University. I was a senior and he was a junior. Before we even knew each other, Nick and I were playing the “Instagram flirting game” (liking each others photos randomly, but not really knowing each other). From looking at his photos, he was the complete opposite of me… skater boy with a lot of tattoos, but for some reason I wanted to meet him so bad! That day while my roommate and I were getting ready to go to a party our guy friends were hosting, I told her, “I’m going to meet this nickpn16 tonight”. She looked over and responded with a “ha okay we will see if that happens”. A few hours later we were at our neighbors hanging out and all the sudden Nick walks in to the party. My heart skipped a beat. I suddenly got so excited. I played the “hard to get” vibe for a bit trying to avoid him behind the kitchen bar, but he finally came up to me and introduced himself. We spent the rest of the night together, and started to hang out almost every day after that. Over three years later and now we are engaged. I get to spend my life with my best friend and I couldn’t be more excited!
Here is a photo of us on the first day we met. :)
How He Asked
Traveling up to the Traverse City, Michigan area to spend time with each of our families has been a tradition for both of us ever since we were kiddos. Every year Nick’s family rents out a cute cottage on Glen Lake and it has been a tradition for the family to drive up and spend time together relaxing in beautiful Michigan. Climbing the Sleeping Bear Dunes is a favorite memory that we both treasure from our childhood and today. This year, as we were climbing up the dunes with Nick’s family, we stopped at the top too look at the spectacular view (and catch our breath). He then opened his backpack and took out a box. I started tearing up immediately. Nick then got on one knee and asked if I wanted to spend forever with him. Still crying I nodded and said yes!
