Corinne and Clayton
How We Met
Clay and I met on Bumble. A friend at work told me she met a great guy from Bumble and that I had to check it out, so reluctantly I did. Clay’s profile caught my eye because of two things: he was super handsome and his profile said: “P.S: Major points if you are a nurse and if you wear glasses.”
I am a nurse and I wear glasses so naturally, I had to swipe right on this guy. Even though Bumble is girl initiated Clay still took charge and asked me out to drinks, dinner, and miniature golf. We hit it off right away and our relationship took off on an amazing course and journey.
How He Asked
Clay told me he wanted to go to Colorado for his birthday (where he is from) so we booked our tickets to go. The morning of he told me he had a surprise for me later and asked if I wanted to know what it was. I couldn’t decide yes or no so finally he told me we were taking pictures at Garden of the Gods. I said ok, cool, but why?
His response was that the Holidays are coming up, we only take selfies, and he wanted a nice Holiday picture. (We had many conversations about how he wanted to be more settled before he proposed, and that he just didn’t feel ready to support a family). I had no idea what was about to happen! We got to Garden of the Gods in the afternoon, where we met Ashley our photographer.
She picked a spot had us stand holding hands and asked me to describe our first date, I responded. She then asked Clay how did you know Corinne was “the one,” in the middle of his response he got down on one knee.
I was shocked! I said yes before he even asked me if I would marry him, I was too excited! We continued to take more pictures as our Holiday photoshoot became our engagement photo shoot.
I called my mom to tell her she was so surprised and happy for us! We then went to a restaurant where we met up with one of Clay’s childhood friends’. We ordered drinks at the bar while waiting for our table to be ready. Once our table was ready we went upstairs, as I got to the top of the stairs Clay and TJ moved out of my vision so that I could see that his entire family, my parents (who told me they were going to Laughlin for the weekend), and two of my childhood best friends were all there waiting for me.
Not only did Clay plan a stellar surprise proposal, he planned a surprise engagement party! Again, I had no idea. Clay truly outdid himself and planned the best surprises of my life! I couldn’t believe so many people flew out to Colorado to be there with us. I have dreamt about this moment my whole life and Clay fulfilled my every dream. I can’t wait to marry my best friend, the best guy I have ever met!
