Cody and Olivia
How We Met
Well…like any good love story I must start from the beginning. Cody and I met because of our mothers. Who coincidentally played a big role in our proposal. My mother, Dorene, works as a Home Daycare mother and met Cody’s mother, Kelli through a mutual friend. This led Cody and his brother to start attending my mothers daycare and also formed a strong bond between our parents. This continued over the next 20-so years, our parents continued to hang out on a regular basis, always with the children. As a result Cody and I became friends who spent a lot of time together. By the time I was old enough to have a “real” boyfriend, Cody was it. We became high school sweethearts and dated throughout that time. We ended up splitting up. You know the saying “if you love someone set them free and if they come back then it’s meant to be”. We loved that. We got back together almost three years ago and have been very happy ever since.
How He Asked
On Saturday, May 18th Cody and asked me to make plans to have my nails done. I obliged but with a thought in the back of my mind of what could come. Hours past and I got my nails done beautifully. Four o’clock rolled around and I received I text message from Cody reading “Pack an overnight bag and be ready by 6:30, and no you cannot ask any questions”. I became ecstatic but also confused because he had been at work all day so what could he have done. Six o’clock came and Cody was home and we were out the door at 6:30.
We headed towards Ocean City, MD about 30 minutes from where we live. We got a little closer and Cody said “okay, I can tell you where we’re going now, The Carousel Hotel”. One of the nicest hotels there, with restaurants and an ice skating rink it’s beautiful. Flash to going up to our room. The whole time I’m thinking he’s going to propose at a restaurant so I am not expecting this any time soon… Cody unlocks the hotel room door and I rushed into the bathroom without paying any attention, it was kind of a long ride. Well, I walked out and Cody stood there with his hand out as in to lead me to follow him. Our hotel room had been decorated earlier that day by our mothers with Cody’s specific instructions. There were rose petals scattered everywhere, candles lit and on the bed rose petals in the shape of hearts and reading ” I love you “.
Cody sat me down on the bed and began his speech. He spoke of the promise ring he gave me in high school and how promised them to replace it one day with something better. He listed off the things in which he promises to me now and then bent down on one knee and asked the question I had been waiting to hear my whole life, “Olivia Michelle Davis, Will you marry me?” I was in tears and overwhelmed and shook my head and grabbed him as tight as could to embrace every second of that moment. We celebrated that night with dinner and drinks and continued the weekend with celebration . My engagement was everything I dreamed of and more and I can’t wait to marry my best friend, my high school sweetheart and the love of my life.
