Christina and Torin

How We Met

We first met at a mutual friend’s Christmas party in 2015. Somebody had turned off the music for several minutes, so Torin took over and started playing “Uptown Funk” (it was new and popular at the time, cut us some slack :)). Torin, my friend Casey and I were the only ones who started dancing once it started. We all 3 hit it off, talked for hours that night, and exchanged phone numbers. While Torin and Casey did develop a great friendship, but he and I had a spark.

How He Asked

The night we met, Torin & I almost immediately expressed our shared love of Chicago. I told him that I loved Chicago so much, that I had known for years that my dream proposal was in front of Buckingham Fountain. He and my mom remembered that, and together planned my dream proposal while we were in the city on vacation. Torin told me that he had purchased a boat ride on Michigan Avenue to leave at six that evening, but that I should wear something nice for dinner almost immediately following. Honestly, despite my knowing that it would most likely happen on this trip, I didn’t think it was going to happen the first night we were in Chicago. He asked me if I remembered something about a nearby building from our last trip, and then when I turned around to answer, my incredible future husband was down on one knee with an incredible ring. My good friend and amazing professional photographer Eunice had also been secretly hired by my mom and Torin, resulting in some incredibly engagement photos.
