How We Met

Seth and I first met at the church we both grew up in.

I took notice of Seth when we started doing a lot of the same activities in our youth group. I always thought that he was the most handsome boy I had ever seen, but I also knew that he was way out of my league… and also 3 years older than me. Seth and I became really good friends on one particular mission trip to Guatemala. While we were there I really started to see Seth in a different way.

After the trip our friendship grew into a more romantic relationship. A few months later, we started dating. Fast-forward through 7 years of joy, laughter, a few breakups, and lots of adventures, comes October 8th, 2016.

How He Asked

Seth had told me that we were meeting his parents for lunch at a nice restaurant, so I should dress up. Once we parked we decided to walk around downtown a little. I suggested that we walk over to a beautiful overlook that has a stunning view of the city.

Little did I know this was the exact spot where Seth was planning to propose. We stood there looking at the breathtaking city that we both love as Seth knelt down to tell me he wants to spend the rest of his life with me.

After a moment of shock and excitement I was introduced to a wonderful photographer that Seth had set up to capture our special moment. Before moving on to take pictures on the gorgeous Pedestrian Bridge, Seth walked me to a picnic table that he had some of our friends set up during the proposal.

Seth had planned to have a tablecloth, sunflowers (my favorite), and a record that he had made with all of our favorite songs on it. As we sat there and listened to the music, we wrote prayers for our marriage and placed them in a prayer box.

After a few more pictures, we walked together a little farther on the bridge where our parents were waiting for us with lots of hugs and excitement. Moments later, I found out that there was a barbecue waiting for us at the park around the corner with all of our friends and family waiting to celebrate with us. It was a perfect day, the kind you dream about as a little girl, and I cannot wait to continue to walk through life with Seth by side.
