Christina and Paul
My fiancé proposed in October, on Thanksgiving weekend, at High Park in Toronto. We had been dating for 6.5 years at this point.. I was graduating that following week from university and my fiancé told me several weeks in advance to save that Saturday for a graduation dinner (which I didn’t think twice about!). He also told me we could go to High Park before dinner since we had wanted to go several weeks earlier to just walk around and enjoy the last bit of nice weather before winter. While at High Park a stranger asked to take some photos of us.. He was on vacation here from Calgary and loved to take photos as a hobby. We said yes and before I knew it my fiancé was down on one knee. Lets just say the man taking photos of us was just as surprised and excited as I was! Initially I thought it was planned – but the fact that it was spontaneous & this stranger captured a moment that I will never forget – made it 10x more special! I was shaking & couldn’t believe that I was going to marry the man that I met when I was 16. Of course my family had been in on it and my mom had packed me an overnight bag for some surprises my fiancé had planned. We stayed at a hotel that night that my best friend helped my fiancé decorate, had dinner at an amazing restaurant, and then went to Elmwood Spa the next day for a couple’s spa day.. & then home to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families and our new engagement! Definitely the most memorable Thanksgiving I’ve ever experienced & best graduation gift I could ever imagine.
