Christina and Chris

How We Met

Chris and I met in high school, although we did not get together until after I finished HS, we started dating in the fall of 2007. We immediately hit it off, but we were both so busy….I worked full time during the day while going to college full time in the evening, he worked full time night shifts and went to college during the day. Our time spent together, we made count because we both saw so little of each other. It really strengthened our relationship from the get go. We’ve grown as people individually and together as a couple and sometimes I’m amazed at all the things our relationship has been through and somehow we come out on top stronger than before. Our relationship is not perfect, but it’s been so worth this 10 year journey. I’m thankful for him everyday. He’s my best friend and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives with each other.

How He Asked

We both knew we’d eventually get married, we’ve been together 10 years, it’s just that we felt married, we never felt an urgency in making it official. It’s truly just a piece of paper. But lately we both agreed we should probably just make it official since the talks have turned to starting a family soon. Before we were ever even engaged we decided we wanted to do a destination wedding. And I kind of knew Chris was ring shopping already, (I’ve got those good investigative skills lol). We had our yearly Maui trip planned for late August, during our 10 year anniversary, so I kind of thought, maybe then, but knowing Chris, it’s so cliche, he wouldn’t do something like that. And we both don’t like attention, and we’re both not much for needing a grand gesture. I had always told Chris when he did it too make sure I at least had hair done decent and make-up on as well, as a joke. I came home from work on a Monday (Monday’s are bad for me lol) so I had no makeup on, and “wakeup and go” kind of hair, and greeting me as usual, was our dog Wyatt, as I’m saying hello and giving him attention, and around Wyatt’s neck was a tag that was telling me to go downstairs. I go downstairs and there Chris is with our dog Gunner and standing next to a table he decorated with roses, wine and a picture of us together. Around Gunner’s neck was my beautiful engagement ring. Chris then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! Just the two of us, which is so perfect for us, I didn’t need a grand gesture, him including our dogs was plenty for me, and it will be a memory I’ll always cherish…even though I wish I had on make-up and my hair done still ?
