Chelsea and Owen

5 years & 10 months ago I met the man I would spend the rest of my life with. Did I know that then? Heck no! Did I know it three months into our relationship? You bet.

I knew Owen was the man for me and that God had placed him into my life for a reason. Owen never let me down, not once, during the entire time we dated. We were young and in love. High school sweethearts I gues you could say. But he was more than that. He was my best friend, my rock, and my number one fan.

I had always dreamed about getting married and starting a family with this amazing human being one day. Little did I know, on October 2nd, 2016, he would take me on top of the world and ask me to be his wife.

It was a normal day except Owen, myself, and our two best friends had all planned a trip to Chimney Rock in Lake Lure, NC. The weather was perfect and the skies were clear for miles. I didn’t think anything of it because Owens’ aunt actually owns a cabin in Lake Lure so I naturally assumed it was a quick trip then a visit to see her.

After a decent hike up the mountain and many pictures later, we finally made it to the top. We were exhausted and sweaty but the view… amazing. It was worth every step up that mountain just to see those valleys. The lake looked like it could go on for miles and the mountains were gorgeous.

My best friend and I sat down to take a few pics while Owen and his friend were standing off to the side.

We finally made our way to the ledge where Owen and Brandon joined us later on. My best friend, Hannah, wanted someone to take a picture of the four of us on her phone. She asked a lady to take the pic, then the lady offered to take one on her personal camera. So Owen and I stepped to the side to let them take a quick pic. I thought it was a bit strange that a random person was taking their picture on their personal camera? But I went along with it all.

After they took their picture Owen and I decided to let her take a picture of us as well. That’s when it all happened. Owen dropped down to one knee and I completely LOST IT! I was in utter shock. I had no idea it was coming. I cried like a baby! He looked at me with that gorgeous smile and asked me to be his wife. Of course I said yes!

Little did I know, the lady that took our picture was a photographer that Owen had hired to take pictures of this special day. I was floored. I couldn’t believe everything he went through to do this for me.

On October 2nd, 2016.. 5 years and 8 months later.. I said yes to the man of my dreams.
