Chelsea and Michael

How We Met

The story of Mike and I is a funny one to say the least. It started with a Facebook message back in 2012, where he not so smoothly tried to set up a dinner date. I blew him off – oops. After that, we’d only bump into each other once a year, flirt heavily, and then go our separate ways. In May of 2015, mutual friends planned a tailgate at a Jason Aldean concert. When I saw him walking over, the butterflies went crazy and I wasted no time starting the conversation. We spent that night dancing, laughing, and throwing back beers out on the concert lawn. A little too many, which resulted in me stopping mid-dance to *ahem* throw up. The gentleman that he is, Mike scooped me on to his lap and rubbed my back. It’s like there was no one else there but the two of us. To this day, we make it a point to see every Jason Aldean concert we can! And I make it a point to not drink as much. :) After a few months of dating, we took a break but the universe once again threw us back together. In February of 2016, we ran into each other on a night out and the stars were finally aligned – we both realized where we were meant to be. One house and two dogs later, I’ve never been more in love. I’m a very firm believer in the phrase “what’s meant to be, will be!”

How He Asked

March 18th has always been a significant date. 1. It usually involves a decent St. Paddy’s Day recoup and 2. It’s my beloved papaduke’s birthday. That being said, it wasn’t unusual that my family was planning to gather at Gouveia Vineyards to celebrate. My sister extended the invite to Mike’s family, as we’ve gotten together for dinners in the past, but Mike was scheduled to work that day. The night before the party, Mike “called out” of work. I just assumed he had a few too many beers – not saying that has happened before. ;) The next day started off as normal as ever, but looking back, I should have taken Mike up on his offer to send me for a manicure. Instead, I opted to go to Home Depot with him. At least one set of nails was ready! When we arrived at the winery that afternoon, my parents, sister, and grandma, as well as Mike’s dad, stepmom, and mom, were already there for my dad’s “birthday party.” Mike asked if I was ready for a glass of cabernet – duh – so off he went while I chatted with my mom. As he handed me my glass of wine, I first noticed it was stemless and not the standard glasses supplied by the winery. I then noticed the etching on the glass that melted my heart (and makeup) to the floor: “The Future Mrs Curran.” First came the confusion: “Is this glass for me?” then the realization “this glass is for me.” This party is for us, and my best friend is asking me the question I was always hoping for but never saw coming. Cue the ugly crying, as Mike placed the most gorgeous ring I could ever imagine on to my hand.

Engagement Proposal Ideas in Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford, CT

Mike had secretly looped in our families, after asking my father, mother, and my grandmother for my hand in marriage a few weeks prior. He then called the winery to get the bartenders involved, who have witnessed many proposals but never such a creative and sweet plan like the one Mike had! Having our families there for the most special moment of my life to date just speaks to how lucky I am having Mike as my future husband. I’m forever grateful they were there to share in our joy, and I’m so excited to be sharing it now with all of you!
