Chad and Morgan

How We Met

Chad and I are both electronic music DJs living in Kalamazoo, Michigan. And although we knew the same people and had performed at the same venue in our town, we had never met. It wasn’t until he saw my comment on a Facebook group page for local DJs that we were first introduced via Facebook messenger. His opening line?: “What kind of music do you play?” We met up that night to go out and listen to live music, and from there, things fell into place for us. We are both lovers of music and we were able to quickly find love for one another as well.

How He Asked

Chad had been booked to open for a national headliner at our local music venue. The show announcement drew a lot of attention and the local music scene quickly became excited about it. Chad performed an absolutely amazing set that night, and nearing its end he brought down the music’s volume to speak. He picked up the microphone and over the speakers I heard him say, “There’s something much more important in life right now,” then he looked at me and asked me to join him onstage. I walked onstage to meet him. Then he said, “I have a question for you,” he got down on one knee with an open ring box in his hands.

I immediately felt the happy tears in my eyes as the crowd of nearly 300 people erupted in cheers. I couldn’t even speak I was so choked up with joy. I nodded my head to say “Yes,” and he got up, wrapped his arms around me, and kissed me on the forehead. He pulled away for a moment to put a beautiful engagement ring on my left hand. When I turned back to the stage right wing, a crowd of our friends was waiting to give us hugs and shower us with congratulations and sentiments of love. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal. As two musicians, there was no better way to get engaged than on a stage, during a performance, at a sold-out show! It was an incredible and a one hundred percent, memorable experience.
