Celeste and Kevin

How We Met

Kevin and I met in an education class at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California where he was the only male student in a class of about 15. We chatted a little throughout the semester, but I thought he was a bit of a nerd. The next semester (fall of our senior year), I was happy to see a friendly face in my biology class. He and I made plans to study together for our first exam, but instead of studying we talked for hours and he ended up asking me on a date. Our first date was magical. I knew after that first date that he is the man I would one day marry.

After graduation Kevin wanted to move back to his hometown in Northern Virginia and asked me to move with him. Well there was no way I was letting go of the most kind, loving, generous man I have ever known; so I packed my bags and left my family in California. We moved to Virginia shortly after graduation to begin this new adventure (adulthood) together. Going through this stage of life together has been incredible. He makes me laugh, always reminds me to “treat yo’ self,” and continues to pursue my heart every single day.

We have encouraged each other in all that life has thrown at us and become a stronger couple through it all. I continue to fall more in love with him each day. Since I was a little girl, I have always believed I am a princess at heart and I know that I have found my perfect prince.

How He Asked

One weekend Kevin planned for us to go to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. While walking hand in hand to the memorial he began talking about the best times we’ve had together. On the steps of the memorial he melted my heart by telling me the many reasons he loves me and how much he appreciates me moving to Virginia with him. I was still oblivious to the fact that he was about to pop the question until just before he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him because he couldn’t imagine it in any other way.

Marriage Proposal Ideas in Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC

We celebrated together and with the friends who had been hiding to take photos and videos. Little did I know, Kevin had much more planned. We went back to his mom’s house where a huge party with all of our loved ones were waiting to toast to our new engagement. As I walked in the door, I immediately burst into the happiest tears I have ever shed when I saw that Kevin had flown my parents, my siblings, and my two best friends across the country to surprise me and celebrate with us. I truly have the most wonderful husband-to-be.
