Caroline and Brandon
How We Met
On April 26, 2016, I was scrolling through Instagram’s explore page when I noticed Brandon’s picture of him at the beach. I noticed he went to the University of South Alabama and played football. That’s cool, right? I followed him and moved on with my day. Later on, I checked IG again and Brandon had messaged me!!!
Two days later, he’s walking up to my apartment and gives me the sweetest, most genuine hug. I had the biggest smile on my face until I looked down and saw him wearing Van’s. Luckily, I didn’t throw-up on them- (I’m just not Van’s person). We went upstairs and continued talking to each other, that’s what I liked most, he just wanted to get to know me. We started watching my favorite movie ever, Armageddon.
After we said our goodbyes that night, we didn’t go a day without seeing each other. He would help me study, and I would encourage him he should be doing the same. We talked for a month before having to leave each other for a whole week. Being away from each other, made us realize we were inseparable. He had become my best friend and I had become his.
When he got back from Atlanta and I got back from Dothan on May 25, 2016, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I have loved him ever since, and till this day, it’s hard being away from each other.
How He Asked
On July 26, 2018, Brandon and I arrived in my dream city- LAS VEGAS! We had a fun-filled 4-day vacation planned full of food, golf, and karaoke. When my Aunt Brenda picked us up from the airport, she told us we were going to Lake Mead to look at some property. I was stoked! I hadn’t been to Lake Mead since I was 12, and it is by far my favorite place on earth. The aqua blue water is surrounded by colorful mountains that never end- just breathtaking.
When we finally arrived, we went down close to the water so I could enjoy every second of being there again; my heart was full. See, this is how I feel when I’m in Nevada. It’s simply my happy place- no stress, no worries. I was in my city with my man.
Brandon wanted to take a few pictures so we posed in front of the most beautiful place on earth, and he said, “I have a question for you…” I said, “Okay?” He got down on one knee and asked, “Caroline, will you marry me?” I think I said, “Are you sure?” ten times before saying YES! I cried, he teared up and, of course, my Aunt Brenda was crying.
That night we had dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, best food ever!! We celebrated our engagement throughout our vacation, and I couldn’t have asked for a more special moment.
